The estimate will be close enough to make plans for the vast majority of jobs, as such estimates are made based upon the type of device and thousands of prior recoveries. There are some exceptions (chip-level work on a broken card or an odd RAID rebuild) that may bring the price in higher, which is why the firm price is provided in writing in all cases after the free diagnostic has been completed and prior to any work commencing.

Yes, in the data sense, but we take just the drive, and not the full PC or laptop. If your PC or laptop will not boot, pull out the drive (someone at a computer store can remove it), and the free diagnostic tells us if the drive itself caused the problem and how much of it we are able to recover. Storage that is soldered onto the motherboard is something we don't take on, and we'll let you know this before you ship off anything. We're a data recovery lab, not a general repair shop; therefore we do not repair cracked screens or dead power supplies. However, if the fault is with the drive itself, or you are unsure as to whether it is, our diagnostic will tell you for no charge.
